Last Saturday, Windy joined in for the Chicago Maritime Festival! With shanty sings, performances, lectures, and discussion, the festival became a lively celebration of the maritime tradition of Chicago and the Great Lakes.
As part of the festival’s programming, a group of Windy’s historical interpreters presented a sneak peek of a new sail to debut on Windy this July!
War on the Water – The Battle of Lake Erie:
It was September 12th, 1813, just off of Put-in-Bay in Lake Erie. War came to our beautiful Great Lakes, and a young surgeon was caught in the middle. This dramatic re-telling transports audiences to what most historians agree to be the defining struggle of the United States of America.
The 10-minute excerpt was performed for a standing-room-only crowd! A talk-back with Artistic Director Orion Couling followed.

Thanks to all who came out! We hope to see you next year!
